An interactive four-act digital scroll. Viewers can zoom, pan, and inspect the figures, temple, seven clay tablets, and cuneiform details.
Through the Gate of Tears, seven clay tablets of me, and a final doorway split open by writing, the work transforms Enheduana’s exile, grief, sacred authority, and reclamation of identity into a continuous visual narrative.

TEXT / IMAGEThe third act draws from line 5 of the original poem:
𒈨 𒅓 𒁉 𒋗 𒁲 𒅗 𒂵me iminbi šu sa dugawho has taken hold of its seven me!
The seven clay tablets represent the sacred powers held by Inana. The original poem does not name these seven me individually; the artwork therefore translates them into contemporary terms: identity, action, order, speech, conflict, grief, and reconstruction. Each is represented by the following cuneiform signs:

The “Gate of Tears” in the second act refers to line 24 of the original poem:
𒄿 𒁾 𒀀𒅆 𒊏 𒆤 𒅅 𒈠 𒊏 𒀊 𒋺idub erake ĝal marabtakathe threshold of tears is opened for you.
The work transforms this line into tears flowing from a celestial eye. The water becomes a threshold, guiding Enheduana through exile and grief. In the final act, a clay tablet inscribed with cuneiform splits open into a doorway and the temple is restored, symbolizing the poet’s recovery of identity and voice through writing.

Planned the composition, character movement, and continuous space of the four-act scroll in Procreate.

Developed the AICG imagery with ChatGPT, then refined details and visual continuity in Photoshop.

Consulted line-by-line annotations of the original poem and integrated cuneiform, the seven me tablets, and the artist watermark into the final image.
